The Southwest Airlines headquarters are positioned on the grounds of Dallas Love Field in the Love Field neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.
The partnership was officially authorized by the USDOT on July 20, October 1, American, British Airways, and Iberia launched their joint venture, enabling, among different things, frequent flyers to earn and redeem miles on one another’s flights. American discontinued most of Reno Air’s routes, and bought many of the Reno Air plane, as they’d with Air California 12 years earlier. By April 2016, Southwest has over 90 destinations in the United States, Puerto Rico and overseas.

The company’s roughly one hundred eighty flight dispatchers are represented by the Professional Airline Flight Control Association (PAFCA).
American is the only U.S. airline with scheduled flights to Anguilla, Bolivia, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Uruguay. As of May 2011 Southwest Airlines has accomplished 4 acquisitions which have helped the airline to develop its revenue base and locations served. Items on flights to and from Atlanta had items from the Atlanta Bread Company, whereas flights from other cities had meals from Gate Gourmet.
